empty nest

Postby calmbrian » Tue Oct 06, 2009 11:38 am

My nephew (an only child) David went off to uni a couple of weeks ago. My sister Sheila is coping but it is difficult for her. She can't bear to go in David's bedroom because the feeling of loss becomes so intense. I should point out that they live in rural Wales and David will only return there for short visits because vacation jobs are very difficult to get in the area. (I think it would make it a bit easier if my sister knew he could get vacation work locally so he would return and live with them for weeks at a time or the summer months.)

My nephew has always been outgoing and popular and he seems to be settling in well at uni so Sheila doesn't really need to worry about him. My sister is trying to be brave but she is struggling.

Can you suggest which remedies may be suitable for my sister. I have a couple of books about the Bach Remedies but there are so many to choose from I feel a bit overwhelmed.

thanks for any help

Hi Brian
I am not a trained practioner, and have experimented only on myself and a couple of close relatives. So please take my advice with a pinch of salt. I have found Star of Bethlehem very useful in calming the shock a person feels after a traumatic event, in removing the sadness associated with the event, and in coming to terms with it. Your sister sounds terribly distraught and this remedy may help her.
